Meet Simone — Founder, Educator, Doula, and Advocate for Postpartum Wellness

My name is Simone, and I am a wife, a mother of four (11, 13, 21, 23), and the founder of Sacred Moon Maternal — a maternal wellness social enterprise dedicated to supporting mothers through one of the most sacred transitions of their lives.
My journey began long before I ever attended a birth or held space for a new mother. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator, I spent over fifteen years working closely with families in childcare and EarlyON environments, guiding parents, supporting children from 0-6, and mentoring future Early Childhood Educators as a Field Advisor for Humber College. I also currently serve as an Advisor for the College of Early Childhood Educators, helping shape high standards of Early Years Learning across the sector.
Through this work, one truth kept calling me deeper:
The postpartum period is powerful, vulnerable, and often overlooked — and mothers deserve more support than they receive.
This calling led me into specialized maternal care. Today, I hold certifications in:
- Birth and Postpartum Doula (Madriella)
- Childbirth & Breastfeeding Education
- Trauma-informed Care
- Young Parent Support
- Infant Massage (IAIM)
- Pre & Postnatal Fitness (Girls Gone Strong)
These certifications reflect my belief in whole-person, culturally-rooted, evidence-informed postpartum support that honours the emotional, physical, and relational needs of mother and baby.
My academic background in Sociology (B.A. Soc.) strengthens my commitment to understanding the systems, histories, and structural barriers that shape maternal wellness — especially for Black, racialized, newcomer, and underserved families. As a Black woman and mother, I have lived understanding of how identity, culture, and community shape the postpartum experience. This perspective deeply informs my approach and fuels my commitment to advocacy, access, and equitable care.
At the heart of Sacred Moon Maternal is a simple truth:
Postpartum care is a communal responsibility that deserves to be tender, culturally-attuned, and accessible.
Through doula support, infant massage, physical recovery guidance, parent workshops, and community-based programs, I aim to create a nurturing environment where every mother feels seen, heard, supported, and strengthened during this transformative chapter.
Thank you for being here. Whether you are preparing for birth, entering the postpartum months, or seeking resources for your family or community, it is an honour to walk alongside you.
With warmth,
Simone
