Our Mission

At Sacred Moon Maternal, our mission is to elevate postpartum care through holistic, culturally-rooted, and evidence-informed support — with a special focus on improving outcomes for Black mothers, infants, and families. As a Black-led social enterprise, we work to expand community programs that make affirming, culturally safe postpartum support accessible to those most impacted by systemic gaps in maternal care. We nurture environments where mothers feel empowered, respected, and deeply supported throughout early motherhood.

Vision

Our vision is a future where all mothers — especially Black mothers, who face disproportionate risks in pregnancy and postpartum — receive the nurturing support they deserve to heal, foster secure attachment, and flourish in early motherhood. Through accessible programs, community connection, and culturally safe care, we aim to strengthen families and contribute to a more just and compassionate landscape for maternal well-being.

Values

At Sacred Moon Maternal, our work is guided by values that honour the sacredness of postpartum, the wisdom carried within communities, and the deep resilience of mothers. These values shape every interaction, every program, and every moment of care we offer.

1. Culturally-Grounded Care

We honour the diverse cultural traditions, practices, and teachings around birth and postpartum. As a Black woman–led practice, we recognize the importance of culturally safe care, representation, and affirming support that sees the whole mother — her roots, her identity, and her lived experience.

 2. Holistic Nurturing

We embrace postpartum as a whole-person experience. Our approach supports emotional well-being, physical healing, relational bonding, and the gentle spiritual shifts that emerge during early motherhood.

3. Community & Connection

We believe mothers thrive when the community thrives. Through workshops, circles, and partnership programs — especially within Black communities — we work to reduce isolation and create spaces of belonging, support, and collective care.

4. Accessibility & Equity

Every mother deserves compassionate postpartum care. Our social enterprise model works to reduce financial, cultural, and systemic barriers — with a focus on improving access for Black mothers and families who are historically underserved.

5. Evidence-Informed Practice

We blend traditional wisdom with current research. Our care is grounded in attachment science, postpartum physiology, early childhood development, and evidence-based approaches that support long-term maternal and infant well-being.

6. Education as Shared Knowledge

We believe learning is a powerful form of support. Through workshops and community teaching, we share practical tools, cultural wisdom, and evidence-informed guidance that help families feel confident, connected, and prepared through the postpartum journey.
